GIOFOREST

We are working with Oxizonia

Oxizonia is an association dedicated to the conservation and protection of the Amazon rainforest.

WHY DO WE NEED THE AMAZON RAINFOREST?

As the world’s largest tropical forest, the Amazon rainforest performs a crucial role in controlling our planet’s CO2 levels. The rainforest generates 20% of the Earth’s oxygen and guarantees the stability of the global climate.

However, human activity has destroyed more than 30% of the Amazon rainforest and if this continues at its current rate, it may disappear in the next 30 years.

We want to recover the lost vegetation of the Amazon.
We want to protect the 3000+ species that live there.
We want to keep the planet’s lungs alive.

PODEMOS EVITARLO

Together with the Oxizonia-Rec association, we are committed to the reforestation and protection of the Amazon rainforest and sponsor the GioForest, an area covering some 200 hectares in the Chontachaka district of the State of Cusco, Peru.

Thanks to the GioForest, we are creating a maintenance, care and conservation model for the Amazon, halting the progress of mining and illegal logging and promoting the development of a sustainable economy for this region of the planet.

STAGE ONE

During stage one in 2021, we planted over 25,000 trees, contributing to the recovery of the area's vegetation, the passage and habitat of animals and compensating for lost oxygen.

In 2022, we have set ourselves a new challenge: to complete the GioForest with another 25,000 trees.

STAGE TWO

We reached our goal of planting 50,000 trees at GioForest! Through this planting we managed to absorb 300 tonnes of CO2 per year. In addition, the work of Oxizonia's team of biologists and experts has resulted in an increase in vegetation in the area, as well as the recovery of biodiversity through new species.

We continue to work to prevent bamboo from invading the area, as its stalks destroy all the vegetation near them.
